Holly Ridge's November Just Got Bigger: The Weekend the Festival Came Home

For four years, the poster said Holly Ridge Live and the parking directions said Surf City. Locals learned to translate. You'd tell your cousin from Raleigh the show was "in Holly Ridge" and then, when they actually punched the address into Waze, watch them cross the bridge and end up at Soundside Park with the sound checks drifting over the marsh.

That translation is over. This November the festival is finally happening inside Holly Ridge town limits, on a Saturday that the town has quietly spent a decade turning into its own civic centerpiece. If you live here, the shape of your first weekend of November 2026 is about to change.

The Festival That Finally Moved Home

Holly Ridge Live NC is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, and the venue is Holly Ridge Municipal Park at 417 Kraft St. That is roughly half a mile from the Highway 17 intersection at Sound Road, well inside the town, and about fifteen minutes north of the old venue.

The event moved after four years in Surf City, with organizers saying the new location will allow the country music festival to expand its attendance and programming; the all-day event is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, during Veterans Day weekend. The reason for the move is worth understanding as a resident, because it explains what your Saturday is going to look like. Shoreline Events owner Jeremy Shugarts said the event outgrew its previous venue at Soundside Park in Surf City, where recent concerts drew about 3,000 attendees and sold out. Three thousand people is a Soundside Park number. Holly Ridge Municipal Park is a bigger footprint, and organizers have said they want room to grow past that.

What's Actually Happening November 7

The lineup, if you have not been following the Shoreline Events feed, has grown into something that reads more like a mid-tier amphitheater bill than a small-town festival.

The outdoor concert, presented by Shoreline Events NC, will take place at 417 Kraft St. Gates open at noon, with the show beginning at 2 p.m. Shoreline Events owner Jeremy Shugarts announced two additional performers joining the lineup: Cooper Greer and Harper Grace, who will perform alongside previously announced headliners Scotty McCreery and Lonestar. McCreery is a North Carolina native and winner of Season 10 of American Idol, has earned multiple No. 1 hits, and in 2023 was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. Joining McCreery is country group Lonestar, best known for its crossover hit "Amazed," which topped both the country and pop charts.

None of that is what makes the day interesting for residents. What makes it interesting is the calendar it lands on.

The Weekend the Town Was Already Building

Holly Ridge did not have a music festival five years ago. It had a Veterans Day weekend that the town treated as its most important stretch of the fall. The Town of Holly Ridge hosts several annual community events throughout the year, including an annual Easter Egg Hunt, Memorial Day Ceremony, Liberty Festival Fireworks and Hometown Heroes Celebration, Veterans Day Ceremony, Hometown Christmas, and the Open-Air and Artisan Market. Look at that list and notice how much of it is stacked into a six-week window on either side of November 7. The Hometown Heroes Celebration and the Veterans Day Ceremony are Holly Ridge inventions, born out of a town whose identity has been braided with Camp Davis and the base traffic on 17 since the 1940s.

Organizers say the festival honors members of the military community while offering a full day of live music, vendors, food and family-friendly activities. That framing is not an accident. Whoever put the November 7 date on the board understood that a Veterans Day weekend concert in this specific town is not competing with the town's own programming. It is amplifying it.

Four years of "Holly Ridge Live" was, in practice, a Surf City concert that borrowed the name of the town next door. This is the year the name stops being borrowed.

The Two Weeks After, Before Christmas Takes Over

If the festival is the loud front end of Holly Ridge's November, the Open-Air and Artisan Market is the quiet back end. It's on the town's homepage banner this fall for a reason. It runs on the same municipal park grounds you'll have just walked out of after the show, and it's the transition the town uses every year to hand November off to December.

Then Hometown Christmas. If you have lived in Holly Ridge for more than one holiday season, you already know it as the tree lighting on Dyson Street and the parade that shuts down the block by the town hall at 212 N Dyson. What is worth noticing this year is the compression: a festival on the 7th, veterans programming through the 11th, the market weekends after, and Hometown Christmas rolling in behind it. Five weeks. That is a genuinely full civic calendar for a town of Holly Ridge's size.

What This Means If You Live On This Side of 17

Three practical things change for residents in November 2026, and none of them are in the press release.

First, Kraft Street traffic. Holly Ridge Municipal Park sits between Kraft Street and North Hines Street, and Kraft is a two-lane connector that most of us use to get to the ballfields, the community center, and the back way to the Piggly Wiggly. On November 7, from roughly 11 a.m. through the encore, that side of town is going to move like a beach exit on a Saturday in July. If you live in Summerhouse, in the older grid north of Sound Road, or off Old Folkstone, plan your errands for morning or the following day.

Second, the sellout math has changed. When Holly Ridge Live was a Soundside Park event, three thousand tickets was the ceiling and it went every year. That is a narrow spread this close to the show, which usually signals a tight remaining inventory rather than a soft on-sale. If you were planning to walk up on the day of, do not.

Third, the character of the day. Soundside had the sound bouncing off the water. Holly Ridge Municipal Park does not. If you live within a mile of Kraft Street, you're going to hear a country show on a Saturday afternoon in a way you did not last year. Most of us moved here for exactly that kind of trade: a town small enough that the concert is close enough to hear from the porch, and big enough that the concert exists at all.
